PRODUCT CARE

We have always focused on quality and safety of our garments: from fabrics to workmanship, from the choice of materials to the application of details.

Our proposal is Ethical Fashion and it is developed in full respect of the ecosystem.

Also for this reason, we have decided to provide you with these useful instructions for washing, care and treatment of our products.

Follow these valuable tips and make your Brums items last longer.

SYNTHETIC FABRICS

Synthetic fibers such as polyester, polyamide, acrylic and elastane have many useful properties that can be used in a variety of items including sportswear and swimwear. They are usually comfortable, quick-drying, and keep their shape well.
  1. Separate hard and soft tissue. Choose to wash items with a hard surface, such as denim, separately from synthetic fabrics to reduce friction between the materials. Always close zippers and buttons before washing to prevent them from rubbing against synthetic fabrics causing cuts and other damage;
  1. Use cooler and shorter washes. Choose cooler temperatures to protect the fibers. In most cases, 30°C is sufficient to keep synthetic garments fresh and clean.
  1. Do not spin and do not tumble dry. The mechanical forces during the spin and tumble dry cycle cause a lot of friction on the garments, resulting in the loss of microplastics. Synthetic fabrics generally dry quickly anyway, so prefer to dry your clothes in the open air.

WOOL

The wool does not need to be washed often and can be cleaned precisely where is needed and simply aired out.

  1. Always check the care label instructions first and wash your garments by hand or in the delicate cycle of your washing machine at a low temperature and with a mild detergent.
  2. Do not wring woolen clothes to avoid stretching the wool fibers.
  3. Always dry them flat preferably with a towel to absorb excess moisture.
  4. Iron them with a steam iron and an ironing cloth: this step, after washing, helps restore the natural shine of the fabric.

SILK

Silk is a naturally delicate fabric and should be treated as such.

  1. Always check the care label instructions first - sometimes dry cleaning is the only recommended option. If the garment is washable, wash it by hand or in the washing machine in a mesh bag.
  2. Wash in cold water with a mild detergent.
  3. Avoid stretching the garment when wet.
  4. Do not tumble dry silk items to avoid damaging the fabric.

GOOSE DOWN

Goose down is ideal for lightweight and insulating outerwear because it creates a warm thermal barrier close to the body.

  1. Clean precisely where is needed and air your down jacket frequently between washes to freshen it. You can also machine wash it on a low temperature and gentle cycle.
  2. Air dry your down jacket or tumble dry on a low setting.

LINEN

Linen is a durable natural fabric that gets softer with use and time. It is important to always check the care instructions accompanying a product, as they may state specific indications due to color, print, construction or end use.

  1. Wash your laundry in the washing machine on a delicate cycle using a detergent without bleach or optical brighteners. Follow the temperature recommendations on the label or product care instructions: in general, dark colors should be washed at a low temperature to reduce the risk of lightening.
  2. Use hangers to dry linen items or tumble dry on a low setting for a few rotations and then hang until completely dry.

LEATHER

The leather used to make our garments is a soft and flexible material, natural and resistant but sensitive to contact with oily products, make-up, lipstick, lotions, perfumes and alcohol-based products, to such an extent as to cause stains especially on the articles in light leather. Take care of leather garments by following these instructions:

  1. Keep your leather away from moisture, heat and chemicals.
  2. Protect it from rain and rough surfaces, which can scratch and damage it.
  3. Let it air dry at normal room temperature in case it gets wet.
  4. Remove light stains by rubbing the garment with a slightly damp cloth.
  5. Take leather items to a specialized leather dry cleaner for a better wash.

CASHMERE

Cashmere is one of the rarest fibers in the world. Being a soft and blurry fabric, it can be subject to pilling, caused by rubbing during regular use.

  1. Remove the pilling with a sweater comb.

DENIM

Denim garments are among the most popular in our collections, especially in older age groups. There are different types of denim that require different treatments.

Re-washed denim

  1. Wash denim inside out, by hand or in the washing machine in cold water and on a gentle cycle.
  2. Remove them from the washing machine as soon as the program is finished to avoid creasing.
  3. Hang them up to dry.

Raw denim

Raw denim is one of the variants of classic denim, it shows features of high contrast that appear around areas such as the knees and pockets, giving the garments a unique and trendy style. New raw denim may stain light-colored fabrics and surfaces (such as shirts, underwear, plimsolls, and furniture) due to dye transfer.

  1. Let your child wear denim for a while before the first wash and wash them occasionally afterwards. In this way the contrasts of the raw denim remain intact.
  2. Wash denim more frequently if you prefer less contrast and more fade throughout the fabric.
  3. Turn the item inside out and hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent to retain as much indigo as possible.
  4. If you wash it in the washing machine, use a delicate cycle.
  5. Wash the denim garment alone or with similar colors to avoid indigo stains.
  6. Do not tumble dry.
  7. Let the garment dry by hanging it and placing an old towel underneath to catch any dripping dye.
